It is a little bulkier than the charger that came with my Canon camera but I lost it and this one is good enough. It works great. I'd recommend it to everyone with a Canon. I first bought this at Best Buy for $50 dollars and then I decided to look it up on Amazon just incase when I got home and it was soo much cheaper for the exact same brand, packaging, etc. So I ordered this one and returned the same one back to Best Buy.
It's thicker because it's designed to work with multi-voltage so it has two transformers in it, and it's designed to handle 5 adapters. Yes you have to put a "little" effort but you can thank shopper lifters for that - don't blame the company for protecting their product from thieves. This charger does work with the NB-5L battery. Why did I give this 5 stars. It still fits fine in a camera back pouch. The package comes with a perforated backing so it is easy to open, reach in, and pull out the guts. but the NB-5L adapter comes "already attached to the charger" so you won't find it loose in the package with the other 4 adapters. For a charge speed estimate, the charger charged a near dead battery to full charged in about 2 hours. Because it does what it's suppose to do. it recharges batteries.Yes it's thicker than the Canon stock charger but the prongs do fold so they don't get damaged.
If you have such a plug adapter anyway, then it turns out this travel charger is superfluous. But the Canon instructions make explicit that their included charger, which is *much* more compact, can accept a range of voltages using any standard travel converter/adapter. If you don't already have one, you can get one for less than this thing costs, have the added benefit of a converter for other items (hairdryer, whatever) and still save on bulk when you travel compared to this awkward hunk of plastic. The packaging is the bonded plastic stuff that can't easily be opened without either getting injured or swearing, or both. I bought this travel charger together with the SD800 camera. It does work fine, so far.
The only shortcoming is that it is thicker than the Canon original. Mine came with the adapter for NB5l (as well as the other mentioned adapters). It works as well as the original Canon.
I returned it and they were great with refunding my money. I ordered this for my Canon NB-5L battery since the description says it will work with all NB Canon Batteries, but when I got it there was no adaptor for the NB-5L battery.
